The unit fought with distinction in multiple campaigns, disproving racial stereotypes with their effectiveness and motto, "Come out fighting". Their service, including participation in the Battle of the Bulge, earned them a Presidential Unit Citation decades after the war, along with numerous other individual and unit awards.
