Description: The 761st Tank Battalion was the first all-African American tank battalion to see combat in World War II, nicknamed the "Black Panthers". The unit fought with distinction in multiple campaigns, disproving racial stereotypes with their effectiveness and motto, "Come out fighting". Their service, including participation in the Battle of the Bulge, earned them a Presidential Unit Citation decades after the war, along with numerous other individual and unit awards.

Description: 1846 Donner Party Tragedy - 87 pioneers moved west to settle in the California Territory. In their attempt to cross the treacherous Sierra Nevada Mountains, they became snowbound and trapped in the mountains. Supplies dwindled, people died of exposure, and in a couple cases murder. Soon their food supplies were gone, they began eating shoe leather, Ox hide, and livestock bones. Soon that was gone, then came the grisly decision to eat their dead. Of the 87 members of this party only 48 were rescued.
