Description: Scarabeus Dung is inspired by dung beetles. Dung beetles are beetles that feed on feces. They are well known for their dung-rolling behavior revered by Ancient Egyptians as Khepri rolling the sun across the sky. Some of the ball-rolling species are nocturnal. For them, a 2003 study revealed that guiding light can ripple from the moon and even the Milky Way.

Description: African Moon Moth is a nocturnal silk moth species. They do not have a mouth but they for sure have a lot of eyes :) Their beautiful wing patterns and tails remind me of a dancing ballerina.

Description: Feather-horned Beetles are very mysterious. None have been studied well so little is known about their life cycle or habits. Mine is howling at the moon. I don't believe it is supposed to do that. So mysterious.

Description: The Ainu are an ethnic group of related indigenous peoples native to northern Japan. Their ceremonial robes are decorated with beautiful geometrical patterns. They believed that these patterns warded off evil spirits, and protected the wearer. My illustration was inspired by their traditional crane dance.

Description: The Glass Octopus is nearly transparent, very rarely encountered and the few information scientists have managed to gather comes from specimens found in stomachs of predators. The inside of its head reminds me of the complexity and depth of the universe.
