I then coloured the illustration using alcohol markers. The Scimitar oryx, or Sahara oryx are a species of antelope that sadly are extinct in the wild. Once found across North Africa, these oryxes have a white coat with red brown markings. All oryx species have amazing long horns.

The Celebes crested macaque, or black ape is found in only in a few small areas on the island of Sulawesi. These primates have a hairless face and black fur on the rest of their bodies.

Mandrills are primates with a very unique appearance and live in the tropical rainforests of west central Africa. These monkeys have vibrant blue cheeks (less bright in juveniles as seen here) with a pink nose and long yellow beard. The fur on their bodies is grey.

The somali wild ass is a critically endangered subspecies of African wild ass found in Somalia, Somaliland, Eritrea and Ethiopia. This species resembles it's relative, the donkey, with short grey fur, but their legs are white and striped similarly to zebra.
