Description: Mehndi (henna) is a strong tradition along the Swahili coast, especially around weddings, intricate vine and paisley work applied by hand. This design translates that same swirling linework into a symmetrical mandala, deep maroon on cream

Description: A traditional dhow the wooden sailboat still used along the East African coast cutting across the water at sunset. Coral and deep plum instead of the usual navy-and-white nautical palette, with a wave pattern running along the bottom edge
Dhow Sailboat Sunset - Swahili Coast Nautical Design Crewneck Sweatshirt
$28 $35
Description: Growing up in Kenya, the Maasai moran is one of those images everyone recognizes instantly — the red shuka, the spear, the way they stand. This one's built in flat illustrated style, terracotta and gold, spear in hand, beaded collar rendered the way it's actually worn. A small tribute to one of the most recognized warrior traditions on the continent.
Description: The beadwork alone deserves its own spotlight — more colors, more layering, a different kind of intricate than most East African warrior traditions. Drew this one with the short sword and shield they actually carry, turquoise and coral instead of the usual red-and-gold you'd expect
Description: The colobus monkey fur headdress is what makes a Nandi warrior instantly recognizable — that and the patterned cowhide shield. Wanted to get both right here. Forest green and rust instead of the warmer tones in the rest of the set, giving this one a slightly different, more grounded feel.
Description: Rhinos feel ancient in a way the other Big 5 don't — like something that shouldn't still be walking around in 2026, and somehow is. Warm terracotta and stone grey, that single horn front and center. A quiet nod to an animal that's had to fight harder than most to still be here
Description: Elephants carry so much weight — literally, and in what they represent: memory, family, patience. Wanted the design to feel the same way. Big triangulated ears, a trunk that actually curves like a trunk, all in cool slate blue instead of the usual grey-brown you'd expect. Calm, not cartoonish.
Description: Cape buffalo don't get the same spotlight as lions or elephants, but ask anyone who's actually encountered one in the wild which animal they respect most. Kept this one dark — charcoal and deep red — heavy horns curling low. Understated, the way the animal itself is until it isn't
Description: If you've spent time in Kenya, you've seen shuka cloth — that red-and-black check that shows up everywhere from markets to matatus. This design keeps that same bold checked color-blocking and adds a beaded-style triangle trim top and bottom, the way a lot of Maasai beadwork frames a piece. It's a nod to something I grew up seeing, not a copy of any specific cloth.
Description: I wanted something that felt like the ten minutes right before dark — when the sky goes orange to plum and the acacia trees turn into flat black shapes against it. That's really all this is: a sunset, a tree, a couple of birds heading home. No filter, just the shapes. If you've ever sat somewhere and watched a sky do that, this one's for you.
Description: There's a particular blue — deep, almost midnight — that shows up again and again in West African indigo-dye cloth, and this design is my attempt to hold onto that feeling. Rings of triangles, diamonds, and a compass star at the center, built the way a lot of these patterns are: symmetrical, deliberate, meant to be looked at slowly. It's not trying to be a yoga-studio mandala. It's closer to fabric than to flower
