Surreal Pulp

My design is from my original painting which was inspired by the legend of the American Wild West and features an outlaw cowgirl who is Wanted Dead or Alive. I have placed her in the Sonoran desert of southern Arizona with a huge Saguaro cactus behind her.

This design is derived from my original painting of a beautiful woman lost in a forest against a surreal background of huge bioluminescent mushrooms. The title "Lost in the Forest (All Alone)" alludes to the dazed and disorientated expression of the beautiful woman.

Tribute to Casablanca

My inspiration is b-grade Hollywood movies of the 1950s.  I took an image of a woman screaming and juxtaposed it against Tutankhamun's mask.  I imagined the woman in Tutankhamun's Curse as part of Howard Carter's expedition team when they discovered Tutankamun's tomb in 1922 - unfortunately she understands she has been cursed as she breathes in the unhealthy miasma of germs from long ago!

Damsel in Distress is inspired by the detective and mystery "pulp" magazine covers of the 1930s and 40s. It shows a frightened young woman desperately making a call for help in an old-fashioned telephone booth.

Secret Desire was inspired by the pulp detective magazine covers of the 1940s - I have appropriated an image of a pretty young girl and placed her in a surreal misty landscape with a giant voodoo lily.
