Like her siblings, Demeter was EATEN by her father Cronos as a baby, then emerged from him later as a fully-formed adult goddess. Of course she did. She was the oldest of the Olympians and of them all, generally started the least drama, but occasionally put up a stink when she felt it necessary. This included cursing a mortal prince to be perpetually hungry, until he ate himself, To Death. When her daughter Kore (goddess of springtime, fathered by Demeter’s brother Zeus) was abducted down to the Underworld by her other brother Hades, Demeter was like oi Zeus tell Hades to bring our daughter back.
