Description: Eiffel Tower Replica at Paris Hotel - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz Known as Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino located in the heart of the Strip, Las Vegas Blvd. Original plans for the Eiffel Tower called for a full-scale replica, however that would have interfered with the nearby McCarran Airport and designers therefore reduced it to approximately 1:2 scale (540 feet). The hotel is 33 stories tall. A unique architectural aspect of the Paris is that the back legs of its Eiffel Tower actually come down through the ceiling into the casino floor. You can ride to the top just as you can in Paris, France.
Description: Devils Tower from Red Beds Trail by Debra Martz ......................... Most visitors to the tower make the 1.3 mile easy hike around its base as we did. After finishing that trail we noticed another 3 mile trail, Red Beds Trail, that started from the same place and opted to see what different views it offered. It seems very few take this trail as we only saw 3 individuals along the way. It starts by taking through a Ponderosa pine forest that eventually gives way to meadow and a series of very mild switchbacks leading you down and away from the tower. Further along the trail you completely lose sight of the tower. Soon the meadow grasses suddenly give way to a barren landscape of red clay and sand. The trail loops around these red...
Description: Watch Out I'm Coming Through by Debra Martz ..................................................................................... To see wildlife at Custer State Park in South Dakota, one simply needs to drive the 18 mile (paved) Wildlife Loop. We saw a large number of Bison, or American Buffalo, Pronghorn Antelope, Burros, Big Horn Sheep and Wild Turkey on our evening drive. The majority of them were on a dirt road that leaves the main loop trail as this one was. Most of them were slowly moving along as they grazed but then this one decided it was time for a jog!! Everyone gave it the room it needed to come through and make its way to the other side! .....................................................................................
Description: High Roller Ferris Wheel - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz What an experience to take the 30 minute ride and see all of Las Vegas and beyond! Will have to do this again if I return, but for a sunset ride. High Roller is a 550-foot tall, 520-foot diameter giant Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States of America. Each of the enclosed capsules will hold 40 people. It was our lucky day as we had a capsule all to ourselves! Great timing on our arrival because the wheel does not stop to load passengers. The door opens and you walk on as it continues to move. It is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation.

Description: Looking Away by Debra Martz ........................... There's beauty on the backside, too! The road to the summit of Signal Mountain twists and turns as it winds its way to the top for scenic views....but I kept seeing all the gorgeous thistles! Finally a place to stop and walk to the edge where the one looking away captured my attention. Oh, yes, I did continue on and basked in the glory of the views all around! ........................... Description: Sunrise on the Strip - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz It was a beautiful way to start the day in Las Vegas with this glorious sunrise. The tracks are around the New York New York (NYNY) hotel and casino buildings with the roller coaster that starts inside and then out through an opening in the roof, around and even upside down before returning back inside at the end. The entrance to MGM to the right side.
Description: Chipmunk On Its Favorite Stump by Debra Martz Last September we spent a week in Chama, New Mexico right on the Chama River. Several chipmunks would play on the rocks and stumps and tease our dog, Latte', by moving really close to her (she was leashed and couldn't reach their area). They would make clicking sounds and flick their tails which would make her jump up and at that point the chipmunk would scamper to this stump which was an even safer distance from Latte'. As the week went by, there were times of the day that none of the chipmunks would be out....that's when we noticed/heard our dog sitting and looking for them and making her own clicking sound as if trying to call them out to play!! The wonders of animals, domesticated and u...

Description: Lines Angles And A Little Artsy Topping by Debra Martz I created this composition from a portion of the Art Museum of South Texas' rooftop. In 2006 the museum underwent an expansion designed by internationally renowned architect Ricardo Legorreta which tied into the original museum designed by another internationally renowned architect, Philip Johnson. The earlier part of the building was constructed entirely out of white shellcrete and plaster. I liked the geometric patterns of lines and angles, rectangles and the little extra artsy piece on top right section.
Description: Brown Pelicans Take Flight by Debra Oh the joys of being able to drive on the beach in South Texas. This particular day there were more Brown Pelicans than normally. There were hundreds of them! I stopped and watched from a distance for quite some time and enjoyed seeing them take to flight in varying numbers, then circle out over the water and return to the shoreline. Captured this and many other images with a zoom lens. There is also a square cropped format of just the 5 pelicans on the right. ........................... This image is copyright of Debra Martz. It is a part of the circular Indian Memorial at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana. Description: Alligator Bags of Port Aransas by Debra Martz There are two very large alligators that have lived in the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas for quite some time. By locals, they are referred to as Bags and Boots. This is Bags...the smaller of the two. Though this area is called a birding center, there is no containment. All wildlife and birds are free to come and go. It is a great place for bird watching along a sidewalk where flowering plants are maintained and then onto the boardwalk, including an observation tower, that extends out over the marsh like area.
Description: Bloom Washed Ashore by Debra Martz One day a full tree covered in moss and barnacles might wash ashore and then on another day only a partial bit of a bloom. Living only a little over a mile from the beach gives me ample opportunites to go there. And, it never gets old! As the locals say, "every day at the beach is different." It's different due to tides which determine a wide or narrow beach. It's different due to the winds which shape patterns in the sand. It's different seasonally which brings in different sea shells and different migrating birds. And this is just to name a few ways of how it is different! ........................... Description: Blue Crab Hiding in the Sand by Debra Martz There is an area in Port Aransas, Texas called Charlie's Pasture; a place where you can enjoy nature of all types. There are a number of sidewalks, trails and the 2-1/2 mile boardwalk loop over the marsh area which is where I spotted this blue crab stirring up the sand while as it dug it's way into hiding. ........................... ........................... Description: Yellow-Rumped Warbler by Debra Martz ........................... On a beautiful January day at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas, I followed this warbler with my lens for sometime. Description: Fallen Leaves by Debra Martz The trails at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge are mainly sandy as it is near the coast. However, due to the ongoing drought, many of the trees had dropped leaves due to the lack of water and the trail soon became covered in leaves. Of course, they weren't red and pink!. Description: Portrait Of A Pelican by Debra Martz ......................... I decided to take my camera with my zoom lens and go to the beach with hopes of getting some bird photos. As it turned out, after several hours, the birds around my location were mainly seagulls and that was not what I was hoping to capture this time. Brown Pelicans flew high over head and at times out over the waves but still not what I was hoping to get. So where would I happen to get this close-up of a Brown Pelican? From the back deck at home! There it was sitting on the railing of our neighbors house. Now my only problem was that my background was houses across the canal and I didn't want that either. So to my belly I went and when I shot upward I had the background ...

Description: Nita Beer Sign with White Frame by Debra Martz Several times a year I travel through Mineral Wells, Texas and always get a "kick" out of this "Nita Beer" sign. So finally I stopped for a picture of it. There were a lot of power lines all around the sign so I did away with those by adding a solid white vignette to frame it. Also available with a black vignette/frame.
Description: Rif Fort View To Queen Emma Bridge©Debra Martz From one of many arched openings in an upper floor of the fort, there is a view of the Queen Emma Bridge for pedestrians which links the Willemstad Districts from Otrobanda to Punda on the right side of St. Anna Bay. Description: Shelby GT Sturgis Special Edition by Debra Martz ........................................................................... Ford Mustang Rally Deadwood SD We just happened across this car rally in Deadwood, South Dakota on August 29, 2014. I felt very fortunate to get any photos as it was early evening and just after we arrived the owners started getting in their cars and leaving! This close-up photo is of one of those cars there that day. I'm not certain but believe this was in connection with the Sturgis Mustang Rally going on Aug 27-31, 2014 (so a search on google informed me!) We did see a large number of Mustangs all around the NW area of South Dakota while we were there. All images are © Debra Martz. All associated rights...

Description: Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge Using leading lines from the white art structure (which is located at the Corpus Christi aquarium) guides the eye to the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge which spans the ship channel that connects to the Gulf of Mexico. The harbor bridge over the ship channel is often described as having a distinctive Napoléon hat-style look; the metal bowstring bridge was built in the 1950s. Work is underway to replace it with a taller, wider and modern cable-stayed bridge. Flatiron/Dragados has been involved in 31 cable-stayed bridge projects worldwide, including nine in the United States. Description: Bahamian Flag and Cannon Atop Fort Fincastle ©Debra Martz We were keeping an eye on the sky as heavy rain was in the forecast. Description: Flag of Greece by Debra Martz........................... From many areas around Athens, the Greek flag can be seen waving in the wind atop the Acropolis. After seeing it so many times before arriving at the Acropolis, I knew I had to get a photograph of it alone against the sky. "History of the Greek Flag The current flag was only officially adopted by Greece on December 22, 1978.An earlier version of the Greek flag had a diagonal cross in the corner instead of the square one now used. This version of the flag dates back to 1822, just after Greece declared its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1821. Meanings and Symbolism of the Greek Flag The nine stripes are said to represent the number of syllables in the Greek phrase "Eleuthe...
Description: High Stepping Whistling Duck ©Debra Martz I was not quite sure what the high stepping was all about but this Black-Bellied Whistling Duck did this repeatedly.
