This wild abstract demonstrates the mystery that we cannot describe everything in words. Even pictures are not always enough. Sometimes you just have to experience it. Zoom in and explore.

What We Found (Transparent)
I created this abstract to show differences working together. In its companion piece "Related Separated" I divide it into pieces like we dissect the whole Creation. Here is shown that nothing is actually disconnected. Compare the two to help remember we are still part of each other.

Diversity Joined
I created an abstract then divided it like a puzzle like we dissect the whole Creation for control and manipulation. Most do not remember that nothing is actually disconnected. May this art help remember we are still part of each other. See its companion piece “Diversity Joined”.

Thinking spontaneously as I experimented with lines and shapes, a profound setting seeming floral emerging from mysterious forms behind reminds me that we are struggling to evolve. I hope it encourages you to keep growing for the better.

Let your imagination travel to another level of reality through this portal. The painting was first done in acrylics on Masonite in 1983 and 38 years later is now a digital painting in 2022. You too are a portal for others to find beauty, peace and Goodness.

In a childlike style this painting is a symbol about symbols we have been making and using to address the intangible meaning of everything and everyone since pre-history. It illustrates the blog post at https://horizongate.org

Symbols Connecting
We all touch something and someone. We all bear the marks and leave the marks for better or worse. This is why God's Grace is so crucial.

This composition began about 50 years ago when I made a bunch of wooden pieces for a game I invented. I pulled the box out of the garage and rummaged through all those pieces remembering the hours spent sawing, sanding and gluing. A mouse had long ago made cozy sleeping quarters in one and some sort of wood burrowing insects had eaten away others. There were signs of a flood years ago too. I wiped them off and lined them up, then found scraps of colored paper to mix in. After photographing them I began digitally painting. This is the first configuration of the collection. The shapes and lines that have emerged tantalize the imagination to wander through the composition as if in another world. The pieces will take other ...

Collage Construct No. 1
The previous "Collage Construct No. 1" being a collection of old wooden game pieces with scraps of colored paper, I have taken the composition further by applying brush strokes of various kinds and revealing new shapes beneath. The physical pieces have morphed into color fields of softer boundaries and your imagination is given more freedom to explore mysterious regions. Hanging on your wall this will be like a secret map for you to use in recreational escapes from the mundane and inspiration for new ideas. What stories might emerge as you follow the lines and shapes into new territory? Consider getting both No. 1 and No. 2 as companion pieces. How might the third rendition evolve?

Collage Construct No. 2
The original exploration of this series of collages was to find a visual place which would work with one of my poems. Hanging in the environment of Construct No. 2 this poem speaks of discovering in the midst of the complexities of life my reason for being. It seems like some thoughtful graffiti on top of layers of previous paintings. As you live with it, there will be much to contemplate in this literary statement merging with past colors and lines.

All the shapes, lines, colors, structures and textures seem like they do not belong together, or fit "common sense," but these are what we have to work with. If we relate them in compassion and faith, they do come together, each a part of a unified whole. The process is evident in this composition for it shows incompleteness. I have faith that the process continues in growth even when it encounters opposition. This composition is used as cover art for the book about the creating process entitled Your Table of Creation available at "The Book Patch":http://thebp.site/97864

This is an abstract collection of shapes derived from a machine. I drew this to feature in my book Your Table of Creation, which you can get at http://thebp.site/97864. Here it is in full color to brighten your room or wardrobe. I like the color combination which reminds me of festive Latin American people. The shapes are primitive and whimsical and will be fun to have around. You may want to try coloring your own version, or even make a quilt from the black and white outline version on this site. Whatever you do with it, I hope it will lighten your heart.

"Machine Shapes 01" Color
This is an abstract collection of shapes derived from a machine. I drew this to feature in my book _Your Table of Creation_, which you can get "HERE":http://thebp.site/97864 . Use this outline as is, color it with whatever medium works (fabric, fabric paint, oils on canvas, ... ) or get the color version all done for you. This outline would make a good basis for a quilt, or applique piece. Maybe you would like to get a print and color it with pencils for your wall, or give it to someone who loves to color. Have fun!

"Machine Shapes 01" Outline
The morning light uses my 40 year old plant to paint an abstract grid across the wall and onto the painting I did in Brussels, Belgium, 1980. The subtleties of light, reflection, line and shape called to me one morning and I thought I'd share them with you. I would call it a "still life," but the sun kept rising -- that's a good thing. See also the composition from which this was taken "Shadow Painting 05" and another detail close-up entitled "Sunrise on Leaves."

Shadow Painting 03aX
I sketched the lines and shapes of a rock face in Zion National Park, Utah, as a guide to exploring composition. Many collections of lines and shapes were unified in the rock and I searched in my placement of color and markings for a unified whole. All this was in the vertical orientation, but in the end I turned the whole on its left side and discovered an order which spoke to me of my connection with time and the elements we all share. Zoom in to find hidden beauties which I hope will both ground you and call you forward.

Camping with Ancestors
As I drew and painted this composition I was inspired by the phenomenon of life rising to the level that we can think, make symbols and arrange colors in a meaningful way. Though there are many things that resist life, nothing can stop life from rising.

Life Rises
Inspired by mixed media art that I encountered, I built a sculpture for the wall and photographed it. I began to experiment with digital painting and layering. Needing some gray, black and white elements, I turned to photos of crowds from around the world. Adding the people began to give the abstract more meaning and I saw the swirling lines like a galaxy. It takes all kinds of people to make a galaxy.

Making a Galaxy
Many feel that diversity is about seperation and independent differences. The tide of the universe is for the many to become united while retaining the individual particle's uniqueness. We all, each in our particular contribution, make the whole together. I made these marks without thinking of anything verbal, then arranged them on the canvas like the pieces of a microscopic creature growing, or the dust and stars joining into a galaxy. Painting with my digital paint and brushes, I began to see more primordial elements contributing to the more concrete objects. I hope you'll enjoy the beautiful reminder that you are a unique member of a great Body coming together as you wear this image or contemplate it on your wall.

Diversity Gravitates
I'm celebrating the human capacity to make meaningful marks. When I inked these marks I felt the energy of writing something in my journal, or a note for someone absent. Without thinking words I made the image more universal and left the message to your imagination. What does this memo say to you?

Painted Memo
The beauties of our complex world are woven together in color, line and shape by the actions of the characters portrayed among the buildings in a busy downtown scene. The massive amount of particles that make up this scene work together to bring variety and diversity to your apparel, décor, and accessories.
