Like an alien writing a message in their own symbols and language, I moved my Apple Pencil over my iPad Pro expressing my inner impulses. To me the result shows my kinship with nature and the cosmos resembling an infrared view of a deep space nebula with roots. Zoom in to explore the intriguing textures and lines meandering like roots underground.

The childlike gestures evoke the energy and freedom of the “beginner’s mind” exploring space, line, texture, shape, like a dance creating something ineffable in nature.

This painting was an outlet of energy during my prayer for the world in so much trouble. As you carry and wear it may the prayers continue and heal wherever you go.

Early one morning I contemplated the epiphany of Moses alone in the remote wilderness tending his father-in-law's sheep. There he was attracted to the phenomenon occasionally seen when the heat of the desert causes a random bush to catch fire. Usually short lived, a thin filament of smoke would ascend and it would be over. But, this time the bush kept burning without being consumed and, on Moses' approach to the inexplicable, he began his life-long conversation with the Divine. As the scene played upon my spirit, I picked up my oil pastels and joined the conversation by making these marks. May you also enter the conversation as you live with this drawing.

mixed media, pencil and digital painting Markings by intelligent beings reveal the soul expressed through the hand and tool. They have meaning beyond words, though they may be called "asemic" (without meaning). I assure you these markings speak of life from my soul to yours and it is in language that goes beyond what we learn in school. On your wall, apparel or objects it is evidence of the life we are all awakening to.

Mixed media of oil pastel, pencil, and digital painting. On April 24, 2017 my morning meditations led me to contemplate the transformation happening which makes where we have been merge with where we are going. Ponderous words of the old, dark ground have layered around our roots which generate growth up through a lighter atmosphere acknowledging where we have come from, yet reaching forward to the ineffable spirit uniting all things.

This contemplative drawing in pencil, oil pastel, digital collage and digital drawing was executed while meditating on how the unknown presses us each in different ways to form the on-going creation. We can run from the pressures, or fight them, but the third way is to allow oneself to be the saint and hero who transforms the troubles of life to form the universe. I wrote a blog about that "HERE":http://horizongate.com/2018/06/your-point-of-pressure/

This is an abstract collection of shapes derived from a machine. I drew this to feature in my book _Your Table of Creation_, which you can get "HERE":http://thebp.site/97864 . Use this outline as is, color it with whatever medium works (fabric, fabric paint, oils on canvas, ... ) or get the color version all done for you. This outline would make a good basis for a quilt, or applique piece. Maybe you would like to get a print and color it with pencils for your wall, or give it to someone who loves to color. Have fun!

We write or carve our thoughts in collections of symbols that make languages, hoping it will tell others down the ages ahead what we believe is the truth. These are now just beautiful and mysterious markings from a forgotten people. The ancestors of the characters in my play/novella, "Pulling Back the Earth":http://bit.ly/PullingBack ,sent these markings into our era with a message meant to save humanity. Who can decipher them in time? Celebrate language through the ages with this on your wall, apparel or home decor. The horizontal version is also available here to fit on some things better.

I let my hand write without thinking of meaning. Then I traced the writing with colored pencils, scanned it and applied digital painting. It was all a meditation on rest from thinking, a sabbath if you will, just to enjoy the movement of color, line and shape. Spontaneity gave me a vacation from planning and controlling. May it give you a festive thing wherever you use it.

I let myself write without meaning and symbols intertwined. Then I traced the asemic writing with colored pencils, scanned it and applied digital paint. The process gave me a little break from my calculating and planning with a spontaneous design which I hope brightens your world.

This flow chart started evolving in a June, 2016 blog post entitled "Art and Poetry are Evolutionary":http://horizongate.com/2016/06/art-and-poetry-are-evolutionary/ . The concepts have grown on me since then and I posted another "follow-up post":http://horizongate.com/2018/02/still-learning-to-participate/ with the expanded image. I thought some people would like the decorative version to put on the wall of their office, studio, or classroom as a thing to contemplate for their own creative endeavors. So, may this representation spark further growth in your life and community.

As I drew and painted this composition I was inspired by the phenomenon of life rising to the level that we can think, make symbols and arrange colors in a meaningful way. Though there are many things that resist life, nothing can stop life from rising.

Life Rises
Many feel that diversity is about seperation and independent differences. The tide of the universe is for the many to become united while retaining the individual particle's uniqueness. We all, each in our particular contribution, make the whole together. I made these marks without thinking of anything verbal, then arranged them on the canvas like the pieces of a microscopic creature growing, or the dust and stars joining into a galaxy. Painting with my digital paint and brushes, I began to see more primordial elements contributing to the more concrete objects. I hope you'll enjoy the beautiful reminder that you are a unique member of a great Body coming together as you wear this image or contemplate it on your wall.

I'm celebrating the human capacity to make meaningful marks. When I inked these marks I felt the energy of writing something in my journal, or a note for someone absent. Without thinking words I made the image more universal and left the message to your imagination. What does this memo say to you?

When I scrawled this expression of inner energy with my oil pastel I felt that something non-verbal was being said. The expression of being alive was further enhanced by the digital painting that I swiped behind the two versions of the writing. I hope it helps you contemplate your own life and encourages you to express it in uplifting ways.
