Life After
Sitting on the rocks of La Jolla, California, letting the Pacific Ocean waves wash and massage me on a summer day, is an essential part of my life. Let this image of the rocks and water transport you to the sandy coolness I enjoyed when framing it in the summer of 2016.

South La Jolla Patterns
Walking down to Green Valley Falls in the dry season the amber grass and grey branches made infinite compositions with the black speckled pink and white granite boulders. This is one composition which caught me and which I have processed digitally so as to show the composition more clearly.

Southwest Branch and Rock No. 1
This started with the poem which can be found in the image. The imagery of the poem depicts our progression in life, rising from primordial depths, gradually being liberated until we are transformed into the now unimaginable realm beyond. I collage pencil drawing, charcoal markings, photos of found objects from my shelves, as well as paint digitally onto the composition. Most of my work has been using Adobe Photoshop and my mouse. As you look closely at the lines of the poem they will suggest where to start and which way to scroll. I hope it will be a good time of meditating upon your own progression.

We Deep Under Ocean
The morning light uses my 40 year old plant to paint an abstract grid across the wall and onto the painting I did in Brussels, Belgium, 1980. The subtleties of light, reflection, line and shape called to me one morning and I thought I'd share them with you. I would call it a "still life," but the sun kept rising -- that's a good thing. See also the composition from which this was taken "Shadow Painting 05" and another detail close-up entitled "Sunrise on Leaves."

Shadow Painting 03aX
The morning light begins to shine through my 40 year old plant to paint abstract shapes across the wall. The subtleties of light, reflection, line and shape called to me one morning on the way to breakfast and I thought I'd share them with you using a painterly treatment over the photo. See also the composition from which this was taken, "Shadow Painting 05," and another detail close-up entitled "Shadow Painting 03aX."

Shadow Painting 05
I was soaking in the pristine air by Lake Tenaya in the high country of Yosemite when I saw far up in the rock face above a miniature grove of trees looking down on me. These natural bonsai hermits were far older than I and I waved to them in communion with our shared world. Though I imagine myself laying down up there with my friends and living with them for awhile, I would not like to disturb their quiet hermitage.

World Apart
Down this path our family hiked to cool off in the pools surrounding the rushing falls of Green Valley, Cuyamaca State Park, California near San Diego. This oak tree watched our kids grow up. Let the scene remind you to get away down the path and regain peace in the soul.

Path to Green Valley
I was inspired to show a metaphorical picture of what we need to do to save our planet from the disastrous consequences of our abuses. It is a collage of five photographs blended by digital painting to illustrate us as members of Creation slowly learning to reach beyond the Material to the Spiritual. Earth is reaching for the light which will save it from the dark destruction of abuses. I hope it will help you awaken to your spiritual capacity to help save Creation. Earth Reaching
Like seeds the whole past and all the future resides in us. Use this image to remind yourself of your heritage and your potential. We hold the presence of Creation flowing from the Source beyond.

The Presence of the Whole
Clouds send our imagination high above earthly complexities and give us rest as we watch them float over. Let them remind you to rise above and sail to your highest potential.

Summer Clouds
I photographed and digitally painted this scene on my own porch while contemplating the Advent season. It depicts our longing to find the warmth and light of home at the end of our long journey and accompanies my Advent carol "Where Can Seeing Be?" in my book Verse & Vision published in December of 2019.

Open Door with Light
In Zion National Park, Utah, I looked up at the massive, pink monolith behind the rocks seemingly guarding it and noticed the single, light green bush decorating the scene.

Rock Wall with Bush
Getting away from the crowd, I raised my eyes up to the crevice as the late afternoon sun highlighted the tall pine safely standing high in the haven of the massive rocks. Zion National Park, Utah.

When I saw these trees standing with their heads in the clouds I wanted to be up there too. Photographed in Zion National Park. Let this scene inspire you to reach high and stand confidently.

Pines Atop Red Rock
This trickle falling over the edge of a massive rock in Zion National Park is so high that the water is a light sprinkle by the time it reaches us on the cool floor of the canyon.
