Description: In the early 1880s, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) negotiated with the Government of the United Kingdom to establish trans-Pacific steamship routes between Vancouver, British Columbia and the Far East. The trans-Pacific services of Canadian Pacific were begun by Sir William Cornelius Van Horne, the Canadian-American builder of the railroad network in 1887. Description: Brother Erik Hjalmar Sandberg , born September 5, 1847 in Stockholm, died April 12, 1888 in Stockholm, was a Swedish landscape painter, conservator and picture restorer. He was the son of wine butler Erik Sandberg and Carolina Gustava Sjölander. Hjalmar Sandberg's artistic career began when he worked in a shop that sold materials to the students at the Art Academy . He got to know several of the students and in 1877 he traveled to Paris together with Carl Larsson to become an artist. He spent the entire summer of 1877 painting Barbizon landscapes. His greatest success as an artist was in connection with the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878 when the jury considered him as worthy of a medal as Georg von Rosen .

Description: The Haffenreffer Brewery, established in 1870, was a former brewer in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. The first Haffenreffer bottles were plate mold bottles and were produced by Karl Hutter of New York and had the traditional lightning stop tops. According to Haffenreffer company records later in 1876 the Haffenreffer Brewery contracted with Dean Foster and Company of Boston to aid in the production of bottles for the brewery and the growing demand. Starting in 1893 all Haffenreffer bottles were produced with Karl Hutter stoppers. Haffenreffer Private Stock, a legacy of the original Haffenreffer & Co. product line, is a brand of malt liquor that ceased production in 2013.

Description: The MUSTEROLE CO., manufacturer of a famous over-the-counter ointment, began in 1905 after pharmacist A. L. McLaren developed a mustard ointment at his Cedar and E. 97th St. drugstore. As the ointment's popularity grew, McLaren was unable to maintain his supply and eventually restricted its sale to regular customers. The mustard preparation's success convinced George Miller, owner of a nearby hardware store, to sell his store and invest in an expanded production and packaging facility for the product. After Miller and McLaren mobilized additional investors, the Musterole Co. was incorporated in 1907. Description: The Fayetteville Generals were a minor league baseball team located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The last minor league baseball team to play before the Generals were the Fayetteville Highlanders of the Carolina League, they ceased play after the 1956 season. In 1986, Charles Padgett, a Don Koonce and Jimmy O. Bunce paid $500,000 for the franchise. The team struggled financially until the 1989 season and posted several positive years financially and with attendance through the early 1990s. They were part of the South Atlantic League between 1986 and 1996. They were affiliated with the Detroit Tigers throughout their entire existence. Prior to the 1997 season, the Generals were renamed the Cape Fear Crocs.
