Description: This painting represents wisdom and flexibility. The white owl represents wisdom, the ability to see past illusions, and is considered to be a guide in the underworld. The Aspen trees represent flexibility. Standing tall, they sway with the wind. The name of this piece is Athena's Owl. This scenery is from an Aspen tree forest in McCarthy, Alaska located in Wrangell - St. Elias National Park. The sunset looks like a rose. This scene took place in October when the trees had already lost their leaves, and that's why the sunset was visible through the dense tree trunks. Description: This painting was inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, and is an example of what Mondrian would call Neoplasticism, or new plastic art, a non-representational form of art with a white ground, black grid, and primary colors filling in sections of squares created by the grid. I took this concept and added beer right where I felt that pint would be emphasized most, on the largest color block.
