Description: “The Land of Israel (Hebrew.) The Country of Our Future.” Poster promoting immigration, designed by Franz Krausz, 1934. Public domain, via PPPA. Franz Krausz (1905-1998) was one of Israel’s most accomplished poster artists. Austrian-born, he made Aliyah to Tel Aviv in 1934. He created hand-painted gouache posters characterized by vivid colors and bold typography. This poster was part of a broad effort to promote Aliyah (immigration) and agrarian settlement during the British Mandate. The woman embodies nurturing and the pioneering spirit. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
